Learning Without Borders

Focus System

Is your child easily distracted,
or having a hard time concentrating?
Is your child often anxious?
Is your child easily upset with changes in their schedule?

"Combining a listening protocol with therapeutic services, clients can make changes very rapidly. Seeing the joy, energy and freedom from many disabling symptoms is highly gratifying."

~ Dr. Ron Minson ~

When children repeatedly struggle to learn a specific academic skill, we need to look deeper to see how their brain processes information. When the communication to the brain is compromised, learning can be too hard, even with tutors and extra help.

While parents usually come to me to address challenges in school, the reality is that challenges faced by individuals with learning disabilities can impact folks in many parts of their lives—in family life, sports, social activities, jobs, or any other activity that requires them to follow directions or process information upon demand. When given instructions, they often misunderstand or take too much time to comprehend. Remembering specific details or understanding the gist of a topic is challenging.

The Focus System, developed by Dr. Ron Minson and Integrated Listening Systems, combines auditory, balance, and movement activities to create a foundation for learning, attention, processing, and behavior. We can rewire the neural pathways in the brain through specific and repeated stimulation, and this system offers programs for sensory and motor, concentration and attention, reading and auditory processing, and more.

Specially-treated music is delivered via air and bone conduction headphones, providing auditory input to the brain and sensory input to the body. Movement activities, customizable for all levels, provide additional sensory and motor input for body organization. Finally, cognitive activities, added later, challenge the brain to process multiple pieces of simultaneous information, which is reflective of demands required of the brain in our day-to-day world.

This protocol has been beneficial for kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, or those experiencing issues with learning and attention. In fact, Focus families often say their kids are feeling happier and more confident, have improved balance and coordination, and experience a vastly improved ability to focus.

When we build a solid foundation from the bottom up, learners have a base to build upon and develop to their fullest potential.

How does it work?

Focus System programs provide simultaneous multisensory input to help develop new, and reinforce existing, pathways governing organization of the body and brain function.
