As usual, the 2019 AERO conference was a wonderful mixture of reconnecting with old friends, meeting new people, honoring the pioneers in the alternative education movement along with a flurry of conversations about the many possibilities of what learner-centered learning can look like in our rapidly changing world. The Theme this year was: Where We’ve Been, Where We’re Going. Participants were asked to ponder the questions of: How do we grow the movement? And how do we make learner-centered education available to children everywhere? Were on the minds of the vast majority of participants.
I always leave inspired and hopeful about the possibilities when so many great minds collaborate/. Going offline for a couple of weeks after the conference has given me a bit of time to reflect and think a bit deeper about the workshops and talks I attended. Over the next few weeks, I’m looking to share some of the thoughts that are running through my head and some of the ways we can roll up our sleeves and make things happen.
